The Editorial Board Members of Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine has been updated. The Editorial Board Members of APJTB come from five continents: America, Asia, Europe, Africa and Oceania. Brief introductions on some of the Editorial Board Members are as below.

 Professor Jeff Bethony, a George Washington University microbiologist, leads the laboratory team in Brazil working on the hookworm trials. Dr. Bethony is an NIH Fogarty Fellow working at Fiocruz in Belo Horizonte. He is a visiting scientist developing ELISA methodologies to measure antibody responses in vaccinated animals.

Dr. Daouda Sissoko, Visiting Professor in Medicine and Global Health at Bordeaux University Centre Rene Labusquiere, is currently an independent consultant with more than 10 years experience in Infectious diseases/tropical medicine and epidemiology. Dr. Sissoko’s work interests focus on epidemiological studies design and advanced data analysis, evaluation and adaptation of surveillance programs and health systems research applied mainly to viral infectious diseases (vector-borne infections, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and C) and immunization. He also designs course curriculum and teaches research methods in epidemiology and global health in low and middle income countries.

Dr. Malcolm K.Jones, an Associate Professor in the School of Veterinary Sciences, his research interest lies in the biology and control of helminth parasites of humans including investigations of shistosomiasis, food-borne trematodiases and echinococcosis. Professor Jones was the President and Fellow of the Australian Society for Parasitology.

Prof. Vanessa Steenkamp, Associate Professor and Head of the Phytopharmacology Unit., She was the Treasurer of the South African Association of Clinical Biochemistry (SAACB) from 2001 to 2005, where after she served as President until 2010.  Nationally she also holds board positions as Vice-President of the Toxicology Society of South Africa (TOXSA), Secretary-General of the South African Society for Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (SASBCP) and Treasurer of the Federation of the South African Societies of Pathology (FSASP), member of International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC). Her research interest and publications have been in the area of traditional herbal remedies and their effect on patients, as well as the development of methods for the detection of these active compounds in biological fluids. She is involved in pre-clinical testing of traditional herbal remedies which includes the isolation of active compounds and development of new drugs.

Dr. Santiago Mas-Coma is the Vice-President of International Federation for Tropical Medicine, Chairman of the Parasitology Department, University of Valencia, Spain, President of the European Federation of Parasitologists, President of the Spanish Society of Parasitology, and Member at Large of the Board of the International Federation of Tropical Medicine. He is also an Expert Member of the World Health Organization in Human Parasitology.

Dr. Yann A. Meunier is a Health Improvement Manager at the Health Improvement Program of the Stanford Prevention Research Center. His research interests are Preventive Medicine, Public Health and Tropical Diseases. He has 25 years experience working in developed and developing countries in epidemics of AIDS, malaria, dengue fever, SARS, Japanese encephalitis and meningitis.  He was an Assistant Professor in Public Health at Rene Descartes University and Tropical Medicine at Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at George Washington University. He is the Fellow of the Australasian College of Tropical Medicine and Honorary Member of the Brazilian Academy of Medicine.

Christine Leon, Medical Botanist of Jodrell Laboratory, Kew Royal Botabic Gardens, is the Project Manager of Chinese Medicinal Plants Authentication and Conservation Centre (CMPACC). She is an Honorary Professor, Institute of Medicinal Plants Development, Chinese Academy of Medical Science. She is a member of Expert Advisory Group, Herbal and Complementary Medicines (EAG-HCM), British Pharmacopoeia Commission, Consortium for Globalization of Chinese Medicine (CGCM), China Plant Specialist Group & Medicinal Plant Specialist Group, IUCN-SSC, and also the Botanical Advisor of American Herbal Pharmacopoeia.

Dr Ng Lee Ching joined the National Environment Agency in December 2004, and is currently the Head of the Environmental Health Institute (EHI), which is the research arm within the Division of Public Health. She has more than 15 years of experience in molecular biology and microbiology, including 9 years committed to Biological Defence and Infectious Diseases at DSO National Laboratories and Defence Science and Technology Agency.

Dr. Alcides Troncoso is Professor, Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Buenos Aires. Dr. Troncoso has received numerous honors and has held medical society positions worldwide. He has served on serving as an abstract reviewer for the International AIDS Conference since ten years. He has participated over 15 years in workshop presentations, lectures, conferences and on specialist professional committees of the Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine. He is a renowned senior lecturer in the fields of travel and tropical medicine. In recent times, he has been guest lecturer on a programme of visits to Universities and conferences across Latin America and U.S.A. He is currently working on development of new clinical services and education students to support care of patients with infectious and Tropical diseases.

Dr. Jong-Yil Chai, is a Professor of Department of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine, Seoul National University, served as Treasurer of International Federation for Tropical Medicine, President of the Korean Society for Parasitology, and a member of the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences, Korean Academy of Science and Technology, American Society of Parasitologists, American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Society of Protozoologists, Society for Mucosal Immunology, and Helminthological Society of Washington, Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and Japanese Society of Parasitology. He published over 500 peer-reviewed academic papers in the field of parasitology and tropical medicine.

 Dr. Joseba M. Garrido is an expert in microbacteriology the Animal Health team at NEIKER-TECNALIA. He is the member of the International Association for Paratuberculosis Inc, the representative of Spain on the Executive Committee. He works on Paratuberculosis, zoonosis or illnesses transmitted from animals to humans, and other slow animal infections.
